If I Was Shopping I Would Buy... {Link Up}

It's Friday and that means another Link Up post with some wonderful ladies! As you remember from last weeks post Shelby from Glitter and Gingham, Sydney from Summer Wind and Andrea from Tickled Pink have given up shopping for Lent!

This week's post is all about what we would be buying if we were shopping! A sort of wish list for the time being. And here's mine:

The first couple things are from BaubleBar (my favorite!) When you sign up, you also get $10 off your first purchase!

These pave link bracelets! I have one in gold, but I wear it SO much I'm thinking I need it in rose gold and green!
And of course some statement necklaces to add to the collection:

Other goodies (that I hope to be saving up for)

What's on your list of things to buy?

Choosing the Right Look for Your Day

This post comes to us from Kaki Read, a Fashion Coordinator at Warby Parker. We've decided to do a little collaboration between Warby Parker and Southern Shopaholic! I first heard about Warby Parker at the IFB conference and I fell in love with the company. It's so much more than just buying glasses. Take a look:

Choosing the appropriate look and outfit for wherever you are going is crucial for success and functionality. Whether heading to the office to spend the day around a conference table, or hitting the town to run errands - dressing stylish, with your agenda for the day in mind, can easily be accomplished with a little planning.
Dressing for success at work is essential. Flying in by the seat of your pants, with your hair messily pulled out of your face, and wearing whatever somewhat matching clothes that were within your arm's reach, will not win points with your, or anyone else's, boss. To ensure maximum style and sophistication that exudes confidence in the workplace, lay out a well-put together ensemble the night before, and you will not have to worry about it in your crazy morning rush. For example, consider pulling together a cut blazer with a feminine blouse and a pencil skirt. While getting the outfit ready, pick out your shoes and accessories as well. A pair of heels, an over-sized watch, pearl studs and a smart pair of eyeglasses will give the ensemble a completed feel.
Hitting the town to run errands, or spend the day shopping and lunching with friends, does not require as much prep time, but you still want to achieve a stylish look for the day. Pairing skinny jeans or leggings with a tee and a brightly colored cardigan will give a good dose of style to your leisurely day around town. Adding printed flats can give unexpected flair to your outfit, and you can top everything off with a large bag, layers of bracelets and an over-sized pair of sunglasses. Keep in mind the order of the day, and do not wear anything that does not feel comfortable when lots of walking is required. Remember, confidence and style go hand in hand, so you must feel good in whatever you choose to wear.

BlueTique

We've be anxiously awaiting the arrival of the BlueTique online store and now it's officially here! I'm excited to announce that you can finally shop online at my favorite store here in Lexington. I know I've gotten thousands of emails asking where they can buy the clothes I'm wearing in a post from the store, and now you're able to just do it online! Check out the store here. You'll be seeing some fancy models on there as well... (hint hint me and my little, Megan)

Here's a little preview for you:

For some reason they didn't put up the outtakes...

Surviving Lent {Link Up}

Today's post is a link up with some of my favorite bloggers! As you know, for Lent I have given up shopping. Well to my surprise Shelby from Glitter and Gingham, Sydney from Summer Wind and Andrea from Tickled Pink has done the same thing! (Great minds think alike)

So I thought I'd put together this support group for our sake as well as a blog link up for you! Today is the first of a few link ups we're going to do, so make sure to check out their blogs and keep following for more posts!

Today is all about how we're surviving Lent. Little tips and tricks of how shopaholics like ourselves are giving up the one thing we love most: shopping.

Here are five things that I'm doing that keeps me from shopping and could help you cut back as well!

1. Avoid Pinterest
I know, I know. It's crazy. We all love pinterest and I know for me I'm on it all the time. But I always find myself loving a shirt or dress on there, clicking through and wanting to buy. I must stop... for now ;)

2. Keep yourself busy
When I get bored and have some free time, I find myself online shopping or grabbing a friend and heading to the mall. For lent, I just can't do that... It's way to hard! So intend what I do is go workout! It's a win win really. What a better way to spend my time. I usually workout everyday, but times when I'm bored I'll go swimming or do a class at the gym! This way I can look even better for when I can actually buy clothes.

3. Reorganize your closet
I love finding time to reorganize my closet. It always gets pretty messy so during the process of cleaning I find time to rearrange everything. Doing this I find hidden clothes that I have forgotten about, or something that just has been lost in the shuffle. This way it's like having new clothes! And moving clothes around trick your brain to think it's new.

4. Unsubscribe from store emails
I don't know about you, but I get around 50 emails a day just from stores! Telling me about some big sale or sending me a coupon to shop. It's like putting bait in front of my face and taunting me! Unsubscribing from emails also lets me de-clutter my inbox.

5. Borrow your friends clothes!
My friends and I do this all the time. Why not just borrow clothes? That way you have a whole new closet at your fingertips! Lucy knows this well. It becomes a problem when you're the same person... everything fits and we have the same style. So it's something to try with your friends. Free shopping!

Make sure to stop by Shelby, Sydney and Andrea's blog too! What are some of your tips to share that can help us from shopping?

What I Wore: IFBCon Day 1

I'm going to come out and say it: this is one of my favorite outfits of all time. I wore this little number to the first day of the IFB conference and received so many wonderful compliments!

Top: Lord and Taylor (similar here)/Pants: H&M/Shoes: DSW

I went with a blue outfit theme since it is my favorite color and it gave me a wonderful reason to wear my favorite shoes! These pants are from H&M and they're my first pair of printed pants. It was a little hard to get used to, but I think they will see the daylight outside my closet again!

I just want to say that I'm DYING over these shoes from DSW. I bought them a while ago because they reminded me of the shoes from Sex and The City the Movie. The ones Carrie bought for her wedding. Not to mention that Audrey Brooke (the designer) is one of my favorites from DSW.

I swear every time I wear them I get thousands of compliments, and the best part is they're super comfortable shoes! I'd suggest everyone go check them out :)

All the details of my outfit (including my jacket):

 Shelby, myself and Rachel!

I was also super surprised to get this email from IFB with a familiar picture on it! I'm telling you, these shoes are a hit! You can check out more photos from the conference here.
